A very sad day for Sarasota area diners as a fire broke out in the early
morning hours of Wed. February 25, 2004, severely damaging the
Casey Key Fish House. An electrical malfunction was the cause
according to officials.
Update: March 2, 2004: Casey Key Fish House owner Jimmy VonHubertz
reports he has a fully self-contained kitchen on a trailer being
delivered. The Tiki bar will be open on Friday 3/5 and the kitchen will
be open beginning Saturday the 6th along with the Tiki bar. Live music
as usual is planned for the weekend.
Hurray!
Below are
some photos of the interior after the fire.
Interior of the restaurant looking toward the entrance. The heat from
the fire was so intense that the fan blades were melted and drooped like
dog ears.
The large salt water fish tank was a focal point of the restaurant.
Food preparation area adjacent to the kitchen was where the fire was
concentrated. |
